The Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) collection deadline has been extended nationwide by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Festus Okoye, National Commissioner and Chairman of INEC's Information and Voter Education Committee, made this statement on Saturday, January 28, 2023.
He claimed that the PVC collection had been moved from January 29
to February 5, 2023.
The Commission held a meeting today, Saturday, January 29, 2023, a day after its meeting with the Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) from the 36 States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and spoken about a number of issues, including the RECs' reports on the ongoing collection of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) in its 774 Local Government Offices nationwide.
Remember that the Chairman of the Commission, at the meeting with RECs on Friday, January 28, 2023, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, stated that the Commission would not hesitate to consider additional measures to ensure that all citizens have ample chance to get their PVCs prior to the General Election.
After reviewing reports from all the States of the Federation.The Commission is impressed by the progress made so far in that more Nigerians step outside daily to collect their PVCs. The Commission has decided to further extend PVC collection all of its Local Government Offices nationally by an additional one week in response to reports from the various States and talks with Resident Electoral Commissioners.
“The ongoing collection of PVCs nationwide will therefore continue and end on 5th February 2023. The Commission is expanding PVC collection across the country for the second time; this is the final expansion of the operation.
The collection time has been further extended by an extra two hours, and it will now run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day, including Saturdays and Sundays
